Punta Gorda - On July 28th, 2025, James Allen Maxwell passed away in Punta Gorda, Florida. James, also known as Jim or Jimmy, was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on March 28, 1942 to James Sydney Maxwell and Martice Dobbins Maxwell. He was raised in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1960. Jim attended the University of Alabama, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was also a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.

James Allen Maxwell married Mary Ann Herman, and the couple settled in Conyers, Georgia, where they remained for over 50 years. Jim worked for Georgia Power/Southern Company Services until his retirement. He was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed visiting family and friends in Tuscaloosa- ROLL TIDE!

Jim is survived by his daughter, Julianna Maxwell, and his granddaughter, Emily Marie Johnson. He is also survived by his sisters Carolyn Maxwell, Anders, and Barbara Maxwell SaPereira. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Maxwell, and his parents. Services will be held on August 23rd at 11 am in Westervelt-Warnen Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa.
