Donald Workman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Brunswick on Jun. 19, 2024.
Donald Lee Workman, Sr. formerly of Wickliffe, Ohio and The Villages, Florida went peacefully into the arms of His Savior Jesus Christ in heaven on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Don was born on July 9,1934 to Ceburn and Lillie (Ramey) Workman in Stiltner, West Virginia.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma, and a younger brother Ronald Workman. He is survived by two younger brothers Ceburn, Jr. and James "Tony" Workman; son Rev. Don (Beth) Workman, daughter Kathleen (Perry) Rossi, and son Dale (Jennifer) Workman; grandchildren: Sarah (Sam) Burke, Hannah (Jon) Young, Joshua (Emily) Workman, Leah (Phil) Stallard, Kevin (Chanel) Rossi, Jennifer Rossi, Daniel Workman, Katelyn Workman, Emily Workman, and Madelyn Workman, and 8 great grandchildren. Nephews Tim, Jeff, Jim Workman, and niece Rhonda (Workman) Saleeby with whom Don shared his birthday were also very special to him. Don also had many friends, among whom are Steve and Bobbie Sardelis who greatly helped Don to adjust in life when Thelma passed away in 2014.
Don and Thelma were a loving and devoted couple, married for 60 years. They were hard workers yet enjoyed life as a family while raising three children. Over half their married lives were devoted to serving their Savior Jesus in various ministries at both the Willo Hill Baptist Church in Willoughby, Ohio and the Tri County Baptist Church in Lady Lake, Florida.
Don worked with brother Tony in the carpet installation business for over 45 years in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area. He was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan and loved to play (and watch) golf, scoring 3 certified holes in one. Most of all he loved Thelma ever since they met when she was 16 and he was 18 years old, marrying shortly thereafter.
Don put his faith in Jesus Christ alone as his Savior when he was 32 years old and lived that commitment faithfully the rest of his life. At that time, he was baptized (along with son Don Jr.) at the Willo Hill Baptist Church in Willoughby, Ohio. Don and Thelma were long time members of this church until their retirement to The Villages, Florida in 2001. Shortly after this life transition they helped establish the Tri County Baptist Church in Lady Lake, Florida. They loved this church family and had many special friends there.
A memorial service for Don will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Willo Hill Baptist Church 4200 State Route 306, Willoughby, Ohio. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow immediately at the Whitehaven Memorial Park, 615 SOM Ctr Rd, Mayfield, Ohio.
As per Don's request, any memorial gifts should be directed to Evangelism Explosion International designated to Fund #1904. Mailing address: P O Box 753 Arden, North Carolina 28704-0753.
