Donald A. Zinz, age 73, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at University Hospital.
The son of William R. and Sarah (Schuller) Zinz Sr., he was born December 29, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio.
Donald spent his life devoted to education. He earned his Bachelors and Master's degree from Kent State University in Education. His career was spent teaching Industrial Technology until his retirement in 2003 from Salem City Schools.
An avid motorcyclist, Donald was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association, and life member of the Western Reserve Motorcycle Club.
Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was also a life member of the Italian American Club in Salem, member of the Meander Eagles, American Legion Post 737, and Youngstown Saxon Club.
Don and Lucy enjoyed traveling to Florida seasonally, and their annual trips to Costa Rica.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille (Biedrzycki) Zinz, who he married July 1, 1972; son, Jacob (Jennifer) Zinz of Whitehouse, and their children, Addison and Jarrett; daughter-in-law, Bessie Zinz and the late Dan Zinz, and their children, Madeleine, Olivia, Daisy, Isla, and Tucker.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William R. Zinz Jr. and Ronald L. Zinz; nephew, Richard W. Zinz, and son, Daniel C. Zinz.
Per Don's instructions, no services will be held.
Don's family would like to thank the Deerfield and Edinburg EMS for their efficient and excellent service.
