Fairy “Faye” Burrier, age 90, of Charlotte, NC, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025.
Born on March 20, 1935 in Wilmot, OH to Dennis and Mildred (Wright) Schwartz, she lived in Alliance, OH until 2022 when she and her husband (Bob) moved to Charlotte, NC so they could spend more time with their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
She graduated from Dundee High School in the Class of 1953 where she was a cheerleader, a member of the volleyball team, basketball team and played the sliding trombone in the school band. Upon moving to Alliance, OH, Fairy became a member of the First Church of God where she was very active in the church as a member of the choir, a member of the Twilighters Senior group as well as being a regular attendee at church functions. She later served as the church secretary for 19 years. Prior to working at the church, she was employed at Morgan Engineering. In later years, she joined the Alliance Senior Center and then became a member of the Transformation Church of Hickory, NC.
Fairy was one of those unique individuals who was loved by everyone who met her. Her combination of humor, class, and sincere caring endeared her to all. What she loved most was spending time with Shelley (daughter and best friend), her three grandchildren as well as numerous close friends. Known as “Mimi” to her grandkids, she was the best cookie baker, milkshake and pancake maker, and hosted the best sleepovers/visits of all time. When she wasn’t spending time with family and friends, Fairy enjoyed travelling, baking, gardening but her real passion was watching NASCAR, basketball and football!!
Survivors include her daughter, Shelley (Rob) Gonci of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Pierce Gonci of Raleigh, NC, Skyler Gonci and Paige Gonci both of Charlotte NC.; brother, Quentin (Arletta) Schwartz of Dundee, OH; sister, Miriam Mason of Lancaster, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 69 years, Robert E. Burrier; son, Todd Burrier; her parents, Dennis and Mildred (Wright) Schwartz; and brother-in-law, S. Gene Mason.
