Done Montano Espina, 76, of Norwood, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Done was born December 20, 1947, in the Philippines to the late Nemesio Entrada Espina Sr. and the late Maria Montano Espina. He was also preceded in death by wife, Maria Dalisay Espina.
Done graduated from University of Visayas with a baccalaureate in electrical engineering. He retired from the Post Office in Cebu City. He married the love of his life Maria Dalisay Espina and they were married for 49 years. He obtained a Master Degree in Public Administration from Southwestern University in Cebu City. As a lifelong learner Done continued his studies in the United States expanding his knowledge in religion, eventually becoming a Lay Minister for the Catholic Church. Upon retirement in the Philippines, he moved to the United States and worked at Auria for 17 years in Albemarle, North Carolina.
Done was a devout Catholic. He served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed photography, jazz music, chess, scrabble, reading, gardening, spending time with family, and leading prayers. He was a humble, kind, gentle soul. He will be missed very much by family and friends.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11 am at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church in Albemarle, NC, officiated by Father Fitzgibbons . After the service, the family would like to invite all who attended to a reception that will be held at 1818 Mountain Creek Rd., Albemarle, NC 28001.
Survivors include son, Jose (Angel) Espina of Norwood, NC; granddaughter, Kirsten Zamantha Espina; sisters, Purita Apa, Marissa Munar, Susan Vasquez, and Jocelyn Batayola; brothers, Segundo Espina and Ernesto Espina; and many nephews, nieces and in-laws here and abroad.
