Donette "Mama Dee" Whitley born February 9, 1943, in Houston, Texas. She went to be with the lord on October 5, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Ona Faye Murray; father, William Hayden Kerr; brother, Bill Kerr (Gwen) and granddaughter, Brandy Shannon. She is survived by her sister Cyndy Mace (Harlen); son, Jerry Lively (Jeanine); daughter, Debi Lively (Michael); granddaughter, Amber Lively Winkler (Steven); grandson-in-law, Rusty Shannon; great grandchildren, Kirsten Lively, Hailey Lively, Jenna, Madi and Thomas Winkler, Abigail and Isaiah Shannon; great great granddaughter Ember Lynn Ferrell; her beloved puppy Quita; and many nieces and nephews.
Mama Dee spent most of her life working in banking. She worked at First State Bank in Corpus Christi, Texas before moving to San Antonio where she worked at Central Park Bank. She installed the very first ATM in the parking lot by the old Jim's on Blanco and 410 in the mid 1970's. After Central Park Bank she worked for Gill Savings, then finished her banking career at Citi Bank after 17 years. During the last 5 years at Citi Bank, she also worked at Stein Mart as a weekend auditor so she could help support her mother. When she retired from Citi Bank she continued working for Stein Mart while also working at Gary Pools. When Stein Mart closed in 2021 and she left Gary Pools, she could not sit still. She went bank to work as a receptionist at Total Look until she finally retired at the age of 80.
She was a vibrant, vivacious, and beautiful ray of sunshine, the world is not as bright without her. Mama, AKA Little Girl, you will be missed every day, but we know you are home with our Lord and Savior rejoicing with all that went on before you.
