Donita Hamlin-Simpson

Donita Jane Hamlin-Simpson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at UCHealth in Greeley, Colorado. She was born on July 18, 1948, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Donald Gerd Hamlin and Bethel Rose Hamlin. Donita later moved to Boulder, Colorado, where she attended high school. It was there she met the love of her life, James Simpson. The two were married on May 3, 1968, and recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Donita is survived by her devoted husband, James; her siblings Shelley Ellis, James (Carson) Hamlin, and Dallas Hamlin; and her two loving daughters, Rebecca Mayer (husband Ryan Mayer) and Sherry Anthony (husband Fredrick Anthony). She was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth Zink, Catherine Carroll, Robert Simpson, and Breanna Simpson, and a cherished great-grandmother to Madison Carroll, Benjamin Carroll, and Nathan Zink. She is also remembered with love by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. A graduate of cosmetology school, Donita had an eye for beauty and a gift for creativity. She loved crafting and drawing, and she could play the piano beautifully by ear, which is a talent she shared with her family. She enjoyed genealogy and Donita was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Her gentle spirit, and generous heart made her the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. She was sweet, caring, giving, funny, and endlessly kind. Donita's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth and love. She will be deeply missed and forever treasured in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. A funeral service will be held at the First Love Christian Church in Loveland, Colorado on August 23rd at 10:00 a.m.
