Donita Rae Townsend, a beloved wife and proud member of the Bay City community, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2025, just one day after her 68th birthday. Born on October 22, 1957, in Marshalltown, Iowa,

A graduate of Marshalltown High School, Donita devoted her professional life to serving her community as a clerk for Matagorda County, where she was known for her diligent work ethic and kind spirit. She spent countless hours assisting others and formed lasting relationships with the people around her.

For 25 wonderful years, Donita shared her life with her loving husband, Allen Townsend. Their bond was a testament to love and companionship, built on shared passions and laughter. Together, they explored their love for saltwater fishing, often finding peace and serenity in the gentle sway of the waves. In addition to her parents, Robert Weatherly and Hazel Clark Weatherly, she was preceded in death by her brother, Denny Weatherly.

Donita will be deeply missed by her husband, Allen Townsend of Bay City; sister, Diane Hewitt; sister in law, Cristyn Hallmark-Monk and husband, Steven; step daughters, Ashley and Brittany; nieces, Carrie, Tara and Holly and nephews, Rob and Hatchet, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Memorial services to honor Donita's life will be held in Bay City, Texas, at a date to be announced.
