Donna Faye Ayers

Donna Faye Ayers, 100, of Clarence, MO passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Clarence Care Center.
Donna was born on May 31, 1923 in Nickellton, MO, the daughter of Ivory Hale and Ruby Estella (Borron) McMichael. She was united in marriage to Frank Ayers on April 23, 1946 in Macon, MO.
Donna is survived by her five children, Carol Ayers Chappell of Medford, OR, Suzanne Hutchinson and her husband Miles of Ozawkie, KS, Mike Ayers and his wife Jane of Shawnee, KS, Steve Ayers and his wife Linn of Hannibal, MO, and Max Ayers and his wife Fran of St. Ann, MO; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Cox and her husband John of McLean, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank on February 17, 1987; and three brothers, Wayne McMichael, Ronald McMichael, and Jack McMichael.
Donna graduated from Atlanta High School and went on to Gem City Business College. After returning, she became the first female teller at Macon-Atlanta State Bank. Later she started her career with Farmers Home Administration and stayed 33 years, proudly helping farm families succeed. During these years she also led the management of McMichael Family Farms continuing until the age of 96!
Donna had many interests and activities including DAR, Macon County Historical Society, PEO, Alzheimer's Association, National Association Retired Federal Employees, Daughters of Union Veterans and her most loved, genealogy. Which led not only to traveling but also finding new family.
Donna dearly loved family and passing down family lore. She knew stories going back generations. She will be greatly missed by many.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta, MO. Visitation will be Monday, November 20, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Alzheimer's Association, or the United Methodist Church.
