Donna F. Bancroft passed peacefully into God's Kingdom on Friday night, May 12, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born on April 20, 1929 in Canton, Ohio and in her heart still called it home. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday and even got her driver's license which thrilled her. She was married to her husband Ed Bancroft when he passed on September 10, 2010 seventeen days shy of their 52nd wedding anniversary. In 1968, the family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL and she remained there until they moved to Boynton Beach, FL in 1993. Everyone who met Donna loved her and thought she was kind, sweet and adorable. She never met a stranger. People would meet her and felt they had known her their entire lives. She just had that type of personality. She was loved very much and will be missed forever.
Donna worked from the time she was 15. She always ended up being promoted to the top of her departments and the people under her were always glad she was the "boss". She was the Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader of Troop 144, was always the Home Room Mom and volunteered at Everglades Middle School wherever and whenever they needed her. At home she was the "cool" mom to all her daughter's friends. Her house was the place everyone came to hang out even if her daughters weren't there. She spent most her work career at OKI Electronics in Fort Lauderdale, FL where she was good friends with many of her co-workers until the business moved to Georgia in 1984. She retired in April 1993 from Bohren's Moving and Storage where she was Office Manager of the Sales Department. Once her grandsons were born, the first one in 1984, she tried to go to Lake Mary, FL as often as possible. She loved her family dearly and that was the most important part of her life. We were blessed to have her as our Momma, Grandma (G'ma) and Grammy.
She is survived by her beloved daughters and son-in-laws she considered sons: Lynne and Steve Raglin of Lake Worth, FL and Tammy and Greg Staggs of Lake Mary, FL. Grandsons Andrew (Laura) Staggs of Lake Mary, FL and David (Krista) Staggs of Sanford, FL. Great grandson, Jack Staggs, son of David and Krista; Great granddaughters Lily Staggs and Sophie Staggs, daughters of Andrew and Laura Staggs. Our mom was forever grateful that Tammy and Greg had children who gave her grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was a grandcatma to Lynne's four kitties: Bandit, Lady, MacGyver and Jett who she saw most week days and enjoyed their company. She is also survived by the "Vadas" Family: Gloria (Thomas) Bertleff; Donna Wasko; Judy, Brandon and Ashley Nicholas; Dan, Summer, DJ and Myah Wasko all of Warren, OH. She is also survived by 3 nieces, several great nieces and nephews, and many, many cousins.
She was especially close to two cousins that visited each other and traveled together, Jean Schindler of Kensington, OH and Sandy Flanigan of Canton, OH. Jean's daughter Kelly Schindler and friends of Donna's daughters, Sherrie Getgasorn and Barbara Wells also held a very special place in Donna's heart.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward D. Bancroft; parents Ellen and Gene Thompson; her sister, Darleen Ritchie and her only nephew, Rodney J. Ritchie.
