Donna Ann Blair

Donna Ann Blair, age 48, of Newland, passed away on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025. She was born on March 24th, 1977 in Banner Elk, NC to her loving parents Lonnie Ray and Judy Ann Benfield.
A native of Avery County, Donna attended Avery County High School before continuing her education at Mayland Community College where she studied Early Childhood Education. Later in life she began a compassionate career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for others with the same kindness and gentle heart she shared with everyone she met.
Above all Donna was a devoted mother. Her children, Jace Blair and Destiny Morrison were the light of her life and becoming a grandmother to little Isabella brought her immeasurable joy. She loved spending time outdoors especially fishing and tending to her flower gardens. Donna also enjoyed playing games on her phone, capturing photos of the moments that mattered and simply being surrounded by the people she loved. Her laugh, her warmth and the way she made everyone feel welcome will be deeply missed. Her time on earth though far too short, was always filled with love, laughter and the joy she found in the simple moments of everyday life.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children: Destiny Ann Morrison of Banner Elk, NC and Jace Allen Blair of Newland, NC; her beloved granddaughter, Isabella Ray Harding; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and special friends who will hold her close in their hearts forever.
A funeral service to honor Donna's life will be held on Saturday, November 29th, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church. Rev. James Ballew will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Yellow Mountain Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
