Jerry Dean Forbes

Jerry Dean Forbes, age 70, of the Crabtree Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. He was a son of the late Frank D. Forbes and Lillian Mae Burleson Forbes. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mindi Grissom; and brother, Ricky Forbes.
Jerry was a hardworking man whose life was marked by faith, family and a deep love for the simple joys that mattered most. A devoted logger for over 50 years, he was known for his strong work ethic. He was a faithful member of Estatoe Church of God, where his love for the Lord shone brightly in all he did. One of his favorite church traditions was helping make apple butter a task he looked forward to each year and one he took great pride in. His church family held a special place in his heart and he cherished every moment spent in fellowship with them. Music was woven into Jerry's life. He loved playing, making and listening to music, especially the sweet familiar sounds of Bluegrass.
Jerry also had a fondness for horses. He enjoyed taking them to community events, weddings and participating in plow days. Above all Jerry loved his family.
Left to cherish the memory of Jerry is his mother, Lillian Mae Forbes; his beloved children: Chasidy Forbes of Burnsville, NC, Brandi Laws (Matt) of Newland, NC, Jeremy Forbes (Randi Jo) also of Newland, NC, Trenton Suddreth (Kim) of Spruce Pine, NC and Trae Suddreth also of Spruce Pine, NC; 12 precious grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings: Darrell Forbes (Nancy) of Burnsville, NC and Patricia Biddix (Johnny) of Marion, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 at Estatoe Church of God. Bro. Wayne Braswell will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hours prior to the services at the church.
