Donna Kelly Brown known to all as Honey Brown, aged 84, of San Angelo Texas passed away peacefully in the morning hours of December 3, 2025.
Honey was born on November 12, 1941 in
San Angelo, Texas to parents Samuel Bernard Cobler and F. Louise Reed. Honey leaves behind her oldest son Shayne, her daughter-in-law Amber, and her two granddaughters Parker and Avery Brown. She is further survived by her sister in-law Betty Burleson, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their children/grandchildren. Honey was preceded in death by her loving husband Billy Gene Brown and their youngest son Justin Ray Brown.
A native Texan, Honey married the love of her life Billy Brown on January 11, 1962 and they raised their two sons together in San Angelo. Honey worked in the beauty business as a cosmetologist for most of her working life. She often said that she had the privilege to work for and alongside some of the "best in the business" and helping people look and feel their best was a true passion in her life.
As many of you know, Honey could get a bit chatty and talk your ears off. There was no such thing as a "short" phone call with her, and you'd better block an hour or so for a conversation that spanned a WIDE variety of topics which almost always included her granddaughters Parker & Avery and whatever they were doing in their lives. Be that school, waterskiing, soccer, going to homecoming, or a trip they had taken, she wanted you to know all about it and how much she loved them.
Honey also had an insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge and in recent years had discovered that new-fangled thing known as Google Search. This came in handy for everything from simple searches like definitions of words, to what the root cause of dandruff was. And like it or not, you would get an education on her hot search results of the day or week. Honey also enjoyed staying in touch with friends old and new via social media which helped her pass the time and remain in good spirits since Billy's passing in late 2019.
A lifelong animal lover, Honey and her family had many cats, dogs, and other critters over the years. As such, the family asks that in lieu of flowers you please make a donation in the name of Honey Brown to:
Concho Valley Paws
4001 Sunset Drive Suite 1072
San Angelo, TX 76904
Honey always had a spitfire personality, and she loved those close to her more fiercely than most. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held in the coming weeks. This is intended to be an upbeat remembrance and celebration of life for Honey Brown and not a time of sorrow. As per her wishes, there will be no formal funeral or graveside service. Lastly, a special thank you to Joe David, Laura, and Ricky West, as well as Linda Bratcher for all their help and attentiveness to Honey over the last few years. She loved you all very much and said so frequently.
