Donna Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service - Bender Chapel - North Manchester on Dec. 12, 2025.
Donna Faye (Holderread) Clark, 85, of North Manchester, died on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Timbercrest Senior Living Community, Crestwood Center.
Donna was born in LaPorte, Indiana, on January 20, 1940, to the late Kenneth and Bernice Walter Holderread. She graduated from North Liberty High School in 1958. On August 10, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, James Larry Clark, whom she had known since seventh grade. Donna and Jim were lifelong, active members in the Church of the Brethren.
With a growing family, a few years after they married, they moved to North Manchester where Jim worked for the college during the day and Donna worked at Heckman Bindery while raising their children. In the early 1980s Donna earned a two-year degree in Business at Manchester College. She then began work at Indiana Lawrence Bank where she helped farmers with loans until she retired.
While their children where home, Donna and Jim enjoyed family experiences like camping, traveling, games, and hosting friends and international students for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The family home became a favorite hangout for their kids' friends - several of whom had their own keys to the house.
After retirement, Donna and Jim enjoyed reading, walking, watching TV, and getting together with friends. They went on several cruises, took grandkids to Disney World, and, for fifteen years, wintered in southern Texas. They enjoyed square and round dancing both in Northern Indiana and Southern Texas.
Together they had four children, seven grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren. Donna is survived by a brother, Ron (Patti) Holderread; two sons, Michael (Andrea) Clark of Butler, PA, and Doug (Sharon) Clark of Boonville, Indiana; a daughter, Sherry (Chris) Bowman of Manassas, Virginia, and; seven grandchildren: Joshua (Sarah) Clark, of New York, NY; Melissa (Vinh Au) Bowman of Germantown, MD; Jacob (Janell Joyner) Bowman of Lanham, MD; Emily Clark of Fort Wayne; Rachel Clark, Anthony Clark, and Nathaniel Clark of Boonville; and two great-grandchildren, Liêm and Li u Bowman-Au, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lee Holderread, her son, Stephen James Clark, and her husband, Jim.
Private services will be held at Timbercrest and interment will be at Eel River Cemetery. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
Memorial contributions in Donna's name can be made to the North Manchester Church of the Brethren.
