Donna Jean Coon, 86 of Bushnell, Florida and formerly of Gaylord, Michigan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Born June 18, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of Garland and Harriet (Parker) Couch. In 1955, Donna graduated from Gaylord High School and on May 6, 1956, married the love of her life, James Coon.

Donna was a devoted, faithful wife and homemaker, raising 8 children. Her pride and joy were her family and faith. Donna’s greatest desire was to leave a legacy where all her children and grandchildren would become followers of Jesus. She demonstrated pride in her family through attention to detail, creating organization, and shaping the lives of each of her children.

Donna faithfully attended Gaylord E-Free Church. Because of her strong faith, she gravitated toward Christian, Godly women to learn from as well as those who needed a word of encouragement or a personal touch. She loved to serve others whether it was holding a little child, providing a meal and other practical help, or listening to cares and concerns. She was a true prayer warrior and chose to direct others toward truth.

Gifted in sewing, Donna had a love and expertise in designing and creating beautiful quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was willing to teach this skill to anyone who desired to learn.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Coon; six children, Marty (India) Coon of Chula Vista, CA, Jerry (Carol) Coon of Orlando, FL, Carole (Duane) Ullrich of Venice, FL, Diane Gaynor of Perdido Key, FL, Mike Coon of Colorado Springs, CO and Steve Coon of Windermere, FL; 21 grandchildren, Aubrey, Elisabeth, Katie, Courtney, Rachel, Chelsea, Jerrod, Brianne, Susie, Jacob, Kendall, Kory, A’nders, Larsen, Kiley, Logan, Stephen, Parker, Davis, Benjamin and Simon; 19 great-grandchildren and her brother, Leo Couch of Alpena, MI.

She is preceded in death by two children, Sally Ann Coon and Joel Lynn Coon; her brother, Terry Couch; and son-in-law, Bob Gaynor. Her last breath on earth was her first breath in Heaven. Our family rejoices knowing that it’s not “goodbye,” it’s “see you later!”

We are grateful for each of you who have touched her life in a special way: the home visits, the memories created, and the love you have demonstrated to the family.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will take place 11:00 AM Friday, January 26, 2024, at Gaylord E-Free Church where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM.
