Donna Crenshaw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ronald Taylor II Funeral Home - Washington D.C. on Aug. 13, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Donna Rae Crenshaw, 71, of Suitland, Maryland, peacefully entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 6, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 28, 1953, in Welch, West Virginia; Donna was the beloved daughter of the late John and Hazel Crenshaw. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Crenshaw Sr. (Deborah). With deep admiration and gratitude, we remember Donna-who journeyed from earning her bachelor's degree at Beckley College in West Virginia, thus allowing her to dedicate over 4 decades of honorable service in Human Resources at the United States Pentagon. Her remarkable career began humbly yet importantly as a Payroll Technician with the Federal Bureau of Investigations. From that foundation, she flourished into a trusted HR leader, whose steadfast commitment and quiet strength supported our nation's defenders with dignity and compassion. As we reflect on her legacy, we honor not only the breadth of her professional accomplishments within the Federal Government, but the gentle integrity and unwavering dedication that defined her life's work. She loved reading-especially her Bible-spending time with family, cooking, going to the gym, shopping, and especially traveling abroad. Additionally, she was an avid member of the Southern Friendship Missionary Baptist church in Maryland where she worked in the clothes closet to give back to the underprivileged within her community and contributed to donations to children for back to school and holiday needs. Donna's warmth, strength, and faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted "baby brother," as she affectionately called him, Quentin Crenshaw of Bluefield, WV; nieces Nicole Hickman and Raenel Crenshaw; nephews Jamaal Crenshaw, Antione Hickman, James Crenshaw Jr. (JR). Donna will be deeply missed by many, especially her loving family, devoted friends, and church family. Special friends include Marilyn Scales and Charmin Carrington whom remained loyal and devoted to Donna throughout her life within sickness and within health. Viewing begins at 10 A.M on Saturday August 23rd, 2025 at Southern Friendship Missionary Baptist Church located on 4444 Branch Avenue Temple Hills, MD 20748. Funeral services will begin promptly at 11 A.M. Abiding by Donna's wishes, the family will have a private entombment at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in her home state of West Virginia.
