Donna Ellinghuysen

 

Donna Joan Ellinghuysen, 83, of rural Lewiston, MN was called to her heavenly home Sunday, December 31, 2023 surrounded by her family. Donna was born September 9, 1940, to Ernest and Esther (Pappenfuss) Anderson. Donna was a graduate of Lewiston high school where she participated in band and cheerleading.

Donna was married to Norbert Ellinghuysen at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Lewiston on September 6, 1959.  They lived most of their married life on the family farm of rural Lewiston. Donna carried out her faith as an active member of Immanuel Lutheran, Silo congregation and a member of the ladies aid.  

Donna and Norby were blessed with 4 wonderful children; Kevin (Sue) Ellinghuysen, Tad (Michelle) Ellinghuysen, Joel (Gail) Ellinghuysen, and Michele (Rick) Fredrickson.

Donna was a thoughtful, caring individual who was always willing to give of her time and talents. Always willing to lend a hand in caring for others, Donna had many great memories of outings and gatherings with all the relatives.  God gifted her with the talent to paint well.  Donna helped paint many of the backdrops for the Silo operettas and also painted a life size nativity scene for her parents which is still displayed at Christmas time on the farm outside of Lewiston.

Donna played a special role in helping raise and nurture her grandkids and great grandkids.  Donna and Norby enjoyed sharing in all of their school and sporting events.

Grandchildren; Josh (Katie)Ellinghuysen, Janel (Jeremy) Miller, Jacob Ellinghuysen, Cody (Jamie) Ellinghuysen, Lacey (Jacob) Tews, Dakota Ellinghuysen, Ethan Ellinghuysen, Laura Ellinghuysen, Kyle Fredrickson, Ryan Fredrickson, and Casey Fredrickson. 12 Great grandchildren.

Proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Beverly (Allen) Neldner, and brother William “Bill” (Brenda) Anderson

Pallbearers will be the 7 grandsons.

There will be a visitation at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Silo, of Lewiston, MN on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 4-7 p.m.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Silo, Pastor Bert Mueller officiating. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 until time of services Saturday at church.   Lunch will be provided in the Silo cafeteria following the interment.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all those that helped in Donna’s care over the last years. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School, Silo, Lewiston, MN or Hope Lutheran High School, Winona, MN.
