Simple Traditions by Bradshaw - Saint Paul - HighlandDonna Sellner Genck, age 96, of St. Paul, preceded by husband, Worthington Clark Genck and parents, Martin W. & Elizabeth Elliot Sellner; survived by daughter, Julia Elliott Meyer (Rick), son, Martin Genck (Julie Ann), step-grandchildren, Claire Burghard, and Michael Corwin of Lakeland, MN, son, Andrew Genck (Rachel), of St. Paul, brother, Elliott Martin Sellner (Diane), of Faribault, & sister, Fanchon S. Mathews (James) of Coon Rapids.
A career volunteer, Donna was deeply involved in church work; PTA; Leisure Age Centers; MN Environmental Control Citizens Association; Refugee Resettlement; English as a Second Language Tutor Training and coordination working with Church World Service, Minnesota Literacy Council (Gold & 10,000 Hour Awards) and St. Paul Adult Basic & Continuing Education (11 Who Care, Jefferson Humanitarian, ABCE Council Awards); Living at Home/Block Nurse Programs - pilot project and newsletter editor; Community Education Citywide Advisory Council-Chair '95-'99 (Friend of C.E. '83, Citywide C. Ed./Parks & Rec Honored Volunteer '97); Highland Park Library/Hillcrest Recreation Center Native Plant Demonstration Gardens - chair (Mayor's Honor Roll '96, MN Horticulture Society 7th District Award of Merit '98); Hillcrest Recreation Center Senior Bridge - facilitator (Parks & Recreation 'Special' Programs Honored Volunteer '97); and other community programs.
Donna credited her parents' example, St. Mary's Hall in Faribault, and continuing education via the Episcopal Church and Community Education for both her motivation and ability to serve, and W.C. Genck for his part in making so much volunteer time available to the community.
Memorial Service at 2PM on Saturday, October 11, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church (1895 Laurel Ave., St. Paul). Visitation one hour prior. Reception to follow service.
Memorials to either St. Paul area Women for Sobriety or Hubbs Center for Lifelong Learning or Block Nurse Program.
