GILBERT, Donna Jane. - of Mt. Morris, age 94, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She passed away peacefully at home while asleep. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 11110 Saginaw St. Mt. Morris, MI 48458. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning officiating. Internment immediately following the Mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Wednesday, April 16, from 5 - 8PM with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM and Thursday at the church from 10AM until the time of the Funeral Mass.
Donna was born on February 13, 1931, daughter of the late Chester and Mildred (Anderson) Killips. She grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Donna married Tony Gilbert on October 14, 1953. She retired from Kmart in 1996 as a pharmacy technician after 24 years. Donna was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. She was known for her incredible cooking, especially her home-made spaghetti dinners. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Donna enjoyed spending many summers with friends and family at her cabin on Sugar Island.
She is survived by: Sons; Fred (Rose), Frank (Teresa), Tony (Barb), Al; Grandchildren: Tony (Marika), Keith, Derek (Melissa), Jenny, Terry (Marianne), Kristina (Joe), Elizabeth; 15 great-grandchildren; Many loving friends and family. Donna was preceded in death by: Husband of 67 years, Tony Gilbert; Daughter, Dianna Brown; Parents, Chester and Mildred; Brothers: Ronald, David, Raymond, Wayne "Joe", Bernard; Sisters: Jeannie, Betty, Marcia; Grandson, Jeff. The family extends a special thank you to Caregiver, Jenny Gilbert.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers may be sent to O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Contributions to the Emmanuel Prayer Group at St. Mary's Catholic Church are also welcome.
