Donna Lynn (Duke) Howerton, 67, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at home surrounded by family.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. 1st St., Odessa, MO, 64076. Interment will follow at the Odessa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family in care of Ronnie Howerton, Donna’s family would like to donate to the McQuerry Elementary lunch accounts in her memory. The pallbearers will be Anthony Morris, Clayton Morris, Doug LaBoube, Jason Duke, Tyler Groth, Marissa Smoot, and Brian Young. The honorary pallbearer will be Larry Hol.
Donna was born on September 29, 1956, to Junior Walker and Shirley Wood (Rice) Duke. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1974 and then from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg with an Administrative Assistant degree. On October 25, 1975, Donna was united in marriage to Ronald Ray Howerton at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa. She worked for ten years at Harmon Industries, then for the Mayview Elementary and retired from McQuerry Elementary after 28 years of service as an Administrative Assistant to the Principal. Donna and Ronnie also owned and operated R&S Mini Storage and Laundromat from 1986-2021. Donna was a member of First United Methodist Church and Pi Upsilon Sorority. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Donna enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, attending their functions, and camping with family and friends.
Donna is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronnie Howerton of Odessa, MO; two children, Kelly Raelynn Morris and husband Anthony of Odessa, MO and Kristy Reanne Howerton of Odessa, MO; three grandchildren, Marissa Louise Smoot, Clayton Anthony Morris, Ayden Ray Morris; a brother, Ronnie Ray Duke of Odessa, MO; two sisters-in-law, Patty Howerton of Derby, KS and Connie Sanders of Mayview, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her father & mother-in law, Sam and Mary Howerton; and two brothers-in-law, Lonnie Howerton and Jeff SandersTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
