Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woyasz & Son Funeral Service - Norwich on Dec. 21, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Donna John. After four years of struggling with the horrendous ALS disease, Donna passed peacefully in her home on December 19th, 2025. Born in
Norwich, CT on May 5th, 1955, Donna was the daughter of Stephen and Stephanie Warzecha.
She was married for 46 wonderful years to her husband, Stephen John, who survives her. She has two brothers Paul and Stephen Warzecha, both from the local area. She is also survived by her four children, Adam John of Long Island, NY, Andrew John of Auburn, ME, Alexander John of Jewett City, CT and Stephanie Calouro of
Lisbon, CT. Among them are her five grandchildren Taegan, Calla, Cameron, Elena, and Nikolas.
Donna worked for over 25 years at Canterbury Elementary School as an Administrative Assistant and was a social butterfly to all. When she wasn't at work there were a few places you could find her. Being a family oriented person is an understatement. She loved spending all the time she could visiting with her kids, playing with her grandchildren, watching their sports or going to their special events. She enjoyed testing her luck with friends/family going to Bingo at Foxwoods and was usually pretty lucky! She was also fortunate enough to have such wonderful friends bring bingo to her at home in her final days. Donna enjoyed going to friend and family outings whether it was a fun gathering or a shopping trip. She was a wonderful host and cook, making family dinners and holidays especially delicious and enjoyable for all. She was the glue of the family that will be sorely missed.
In her earlier days, she graduated NFA and received her associates degree from Bryant University. For a large portion of her married life, she was a stay at home mom, constantly running her kids around from sport to sport, traveling New England and beyond for tournaments, being the most loving, dedicated mother and wife.
Her personality exuded altruism. She was always thinking about others and dropping things planned for help needed. We joke that she knew everybody and everything because no matter who you mentioned, she knew in some fashion who they were, or if we went somewhere, she always ran into someone she knew. She was great at giving advice, always someone you could turn to and a friend to all.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who visited, supported, called and cared for Donna during these past years. Your presence, kindness, and love meant more than we have words for. We are forever grateful that she was surrounded by such incredible people throughout her life.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours at Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave in
Norwich, CT on December 27th, 2025 from 3 to 5pm. Light refreshments to follow at Donna and Stephen's home in Lisbon for those interested.
