Donna Jean Keith

Donna Jean (Veldt) Keith, 79, of Scotts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Born on November 8, 1946, in Kalamazoo, Donna was the second of five children and the only daughter of John and Denna (Gernaat) Veldt.

Donna graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School and began her working life at Gibson Guitar Corporation, where she worked for fourteen years. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dennis Keith. Their love story began among guitars and craftsmanship, and they were united in marriage on December 31, 1971. Together they built a life rooted in devotion and partnership, recently celebrating fifty-five wonderful years of marriage.

After leaving Gibson, Donna felt called to serve others in a new way. She returned to school and earned her nursing degree from the Borgess School of Nursing. She went on to dedicate twenty years as a Registered Nurse at Ascension Borgess Hospital, compassionately caring for her patients with skill and kindness. She later continued her nursing career for another ten years with Fresenius Medical Care, faithfully serving those in need.

Donna found joy in life's simple and beautiful moments. She loved being outdoors-tending to her flowers and garden, caring for animals, and nurturing the world around her. She enjoyed long motorcycle trips with Dennis, leisurely drives, and peaceful walks. Her hands were rarely still; she delighted in crocheting and needlepoint, creating thoughtful gifts and treasured keepsakes. Donna had a tender heart for animals, especially her beloved cats and the many rescued animals she welcomed into her home over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Carol Veldt; her sister-in-law, Mary Veldt; and nephew: Matthew Veldt.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her devoted husband, Dennis Keith; her brothers, Norm Veldt, John (Lorie) Veldt, Russ (Toni) Veldt, and Charles (Linda) Veldt; along with many nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth, generosity, and steady presence in their lives.

In keeping with Donna's deep love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

In accordance with the family's wishes, public services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 27, 2026, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
