Mark Alan Weeks, age 72, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1953, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Warren and Agnes (Hyde) Weeks.
Mark graduated from Portage Northern High School and began his career working alongside his father at Root Springs Scraper in Kalamazoo. He cherished the six years they spent together traveling as salesmen, forming memories and strengthening a bond he deeply valued. Mark later followed his passion for food by working as a chef at the Red Roof Steakhouse, where his natural talent and love for cooking were evident to all who knew him.
On September 14, 1994, Mark was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cathy Greer. Together they built a warm and welcoming home and raised two children, Angela Kilgore and Amos Kilgore, who were a constant source of pride and joy in his life.
Mark was known as an exceptional cook whose meals brought people together. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life - listening to old rock 'n' roll and bluegrass music, playing the occasional game of horseshoes, and spending meaningful time with friends and family. His home was famously open to all, with a revolving door of friends who always knew they would be greeted with good conversation, laughter, and often a delicious meal. Mark's generous spirit and easygoing nature made everyone feel like they belonged.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his deep love for his family, and his ability to create community wherever he went. Mark leaves behind a legacy of warmth, friendship, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
