Donna Kuhn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home - Warrensburg on Mar. 25, 2024.
Donna J. Kuhn was born Feb 20, 1934, and died peacefully in her sleep on March 22, 2024 at the age of 90 after a long battle with dementia.
Daughter of Robert and Edna Wix of Appleton City, MO, she grew-up on a farm and attended Appleton City High School. She graduated in 1951 and moved to Kansas City, MO at the young age of 17 years old. While in Kansas City, she worked for TWA, KC Power & Light, and several other companies.
In the summer, she would go to Lake Lotawana to visit one of her lady friends. This is where she met a shy acting guy (by her definition) whose name was Harold Kuhn. They started dating and later tied the knot on January 17, 1964. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014 and now have been married for 60 years. Donna was a good wife to her husband and a good mother to her daughter Lisa and loved her two grandchildren Natalie Carman of Kansas City, MO and Thomas Carman of Tampa, FL.
Harold and Donna started their own business in 1978 named Economy Machine Shop in Lee's Summit, MO with Donna serving as secretary and treasurer. They sold their business in 2017 after 39 years of business. They then decided to travel around the country and spent a lot of time at their farm near Warrensburg, MO, raising cattle and making hay.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Edna Wix as well as her sisters Doris Kassner, Sharon Brown, and Sue Heiman. She has one surviving sister Shirley Bell of north Kansas City, MO.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, MO. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Donna will be interred at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO following the service at 12:00 p.m. with a lunch to follow at Red Shanty BBQ & Roadside Café (2201 MO-13, Higginsville, MO 64037).

Grandma was the sweetest soul. She was kind and thoughtful, and was always there to listen when you needed it. I´m grateful to have had such an amazing woman in my life to look up to. There´s so much more I wish we could have shared together, your opinion always meant so much to me. I love you and will be thinking of you always, grandma

I'm so sorry, Harold. She was the most gentle person I've ever known. I'm so proud she was my kids' grandma. You both set an excellent example for them with your hard work and valuing those things that are truly important in life.
