Donna Kay Lewis, age 61 of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born on February 16, 1964 in Jefferson City, the daughter of Raymond Jacob and Lorraine Marie (Schell) Roling. She was a graduate of Helias Catholic High School where she excelled academically, earning her place in the National Honor Society and graduating as Salutatorian of her class. She later earned her degree in computer science from Lincoln University.
Donna went on to work as an office manager for a neurology clinic under the direction of Dr. Curtis Cox where she dedicated over 17 years.
She started a family, having two sons whom she cherished above all. It was through one of her son's military service that she eventually met the love of her life. Jairus Dewayne Lewis was introduced to Donna via phone and the two met for a dinner date while he was home for a brief leave. The rest is history as the two married on May 8, 2008 in Linn, Mo.
Donna was a warm and loving soul, known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. She had a deep and personal relationship with God, letting the example of Jesus guide her life. Her nurturing nature and helpful spirit touched everyone she met, as she always put the wellbeing of others before her own. Donna's heart to serve was evident in the way she cared for her aging parents with endless love and compassion.
Family was the center of Donna's world. She cherished every moment spent with "her boys"-her beloved husband and sons-creating memories that will be treasured forever. She was a supportive and present mother, a devoted wife, and the best friend anyone could ask for. Her loyal dog, Lovie, was always by her side, adding joy to her days.
Donna found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping at her favorite stores-Dollar Tree, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods-always finding the perfect little treasures. Hello Kitty and the color pink were constants in her life, reflecting her playful and vibrant personality. Music filled her heart, with Pearl Jam and '80s hits often playing in the background.
Travel brought Donna so much joy, especially trips with her husband to casinos, where they often found good luck in Iowa and Kansas. She loved visiting Denver, Colorado, to spend time with her son, and making special trips to Pittsburg, Kansas, for what it lovingly called the world's best chicken.
Donna's genuine, peaceful nature and kindheartedness left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her. She was truly one of a kind-a light in the lives of many, and a beautiful reminder of the power of love, faith, and compassion.
Survivors include: her husband, Jairus Lewis of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sons, James Volmert of Denver, Colo. and Chris Volmert (Hanna) of Onalaska, Wash.; two brothers, Mike Roling (Wanda) and Dan Roling both of Jefferson City, Mo.; and her beloved dog, Lovie.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Raymond and Lorraine Roling and her grandparents, Al and Martha Schell.
Memorial services to celebrate Donna's life will be held privately for her family.
