Donna Mattei Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parsell Funeral Homes-Atkins-Lodge Chapel - Lewes on May 31, 2024.
Donna M. Mattei, age 72 of Lewes, DE passed away in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, May 27, 2024. She was born on April 24, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Anthony and Elanor (Walters) Mattei.
Ms. Mattei was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, class of 1970. She held several job positions throughout her career such as freelance artist and realtor. Ms. Mattei's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She loved gardening and her green thumb was evident by her carefully manicured yard and her well attended flowers and was truly passionate about photography.
Ms. Mattei was a talented sculptor of Native American crafts, a testament of her love for Native American culture and her desire to connect with the world beyond her doorstep. With a deep passion for history, she spent many years participating in several historical reenactments. Her most endearing qualities were, however, those of being generous and loving to those she held near to her heart. Whether sharing stories of the past, or simply enjoying the company of her loved ones, her presence was a source of warmth and wisdom. Ms. Mattei will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have her in their lives.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Mattei was predeceased by her fiancé, Billy Allen of Philadelphia, PA. She is survived by her chosen family and her close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ms. Mattei's memory to Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association, https://www.pmsba.org/, American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org/, or Cherokee of Georgia Tribal Grounds, Non-Profit, https://georgiatribeofeasterncherokee.org/donate.
