Donna Jean Mitchell, 83, of Nelsonville, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born on December 9, 1941, in Chardon, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Hazel Elizabeth Bowditch. She was the widow of the late William Edward Mitchell Sr.
Donna was a graduate of Chardon High School. Donna was loved by many and was affectionately known as Momma Donna because everyone was welcome at her home.
Donna is survived by her children, William E. “Catfish” Mitchell Jr of Circleville, Cathy (Doug) Donovan of Naples, Florida, Sherrie (Roger) Dearing of Buchtel, and Mary Mitchell of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Billie Jo Fisher of Hamilton, Ohio, Joshua William O’Donovan of Madison, Ohio, Megan (Damond) Bluntschly of Columbus, Keith Alan Adams of Heath, Meriya Carpenter of Georgia Sarah Jo Ruble of Newark, Molly Beth Donovan of Plain City, Jeremy (Karrie) Dexter of Nelsonville, Jennifer Marie (Jeramy) Duncan of Glouster, and Sarah Dawn (Chad) Dexter of Athens; 27 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Mitchell; special friend, Karen Sinclair; many nieces and nephews, including niece, Robyn Bollinger; and special pet, Polly.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Hazel; husband, William; daughter, Margaret Ann Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Mitchell; brother, Floyd Bowditch; sisters, Janet Campbell, Patty Burch, and Alice VanHam; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gertie (Ed) Bauer, Gib (Margaret) Mitchell, Betty (Johnny) Newman, Mary Ellen (Dick) Wright, Bernice (Tom) Sowers, Jack Mitchell, Wayne Mitchell, and Nellie Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville, with minister Carolyn Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Family and friends may visit from 11 am to 1 pm Friday at the funeral home.
