Donna O’Brien Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 12, 2025.
Portland – Donna Marie (Hoye) O'Brien, 59, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born in Taunton, MA, on October 7, 1965, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Perry) Hoye.
Donna attended St. Mary's School and Coyle and Cassidy High School. Her desire to become a nurse from a young age led her to St. Joseph's College of Maine. Oncology and hospice nursing became her passion while living in Maine, and upon graduation in 1987, she started her nursing career at Mercy Hospital.
In the summer of 1991, she married her long-time friend, Terry O'Brien, on the campus of St. Joseph's College of Maine. They were married for thirty-four years. During these thirty-four years, Donna carried her hospice passion for non-profit organizations around the country, ultimately returning to her favorite state, Maine.
Donna was always the life of the party, especially when spending time with the kids. She was affectionately known to everyone as "D."
Donna leaves behind her husband, Terry; sister, Rowena and her husband, Ron Bishop of Napa, California; brother, Ernest Paul Silvia of Taunton, MA; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will remember Donna with a smile.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave. Portland.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Donna's memory to Northern Light Home Care & Hospice, PO Box, 931 Bangor 04402, or online at: www.give.northernlighthealth.org/campaign/651218/donate
