Donna Gail Reyes, a beloved figure in our community, passed away on November 8, 2024, at Calcutta House. She was born on March 31, 1960, in Lafayette, where she spent her formative years before establishing a fulfilling career as an Assistant Manager for the Racing Commission. Her professional dedication earned her respect and admiration from those who worked alongside her.
Donna was known for her generous spirit and loving nature. She had a heart of gold, devoted to her family, especially her cherished grandchildren, Aiden and Aubrey Gonzales. Donna's love extended beyond her family, as she also held a deep affection for animals, often embodying kindness and compassion in all aspects of her life.
She leaves behind her husband, Jose Mario Reyes, who stood by her side in love and partnership throughout their journey together. Her family also includes her daughter, Ortensia Reyes (Matthew), who carries on her legacy of warmth and commitment. Donna is survived by her sisters, Cindy Bourque and Stephanie Boudreaux, both of Vinton, Louisiana, who will remember her fondly for her unwavering support and joyful spirit.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Wilma Marie Royer, who undoubtedly influenced the compassionate person Donna became.
In this time of grief, we celebrate Donna's life—a life rich with love, laughter, and a remarkable ability to touch the hearts of everyone around her. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
