Donna M. Scheu, age 79, formerly of Merrill, WI passed away on June 7, 2025 at the Aurora Zilber Family Hospice after a 30-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on January 20, 1946 to the late Clarence and Violet (Hartman) Flannery in Crandon, WI. Donna graduated from Antigo High School in 1964. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper. She married Russell Scheu on May 6, 1967 in Antigo, WI.
For the next 20 years Donna raised her 4 children with Russ in five states and 2 countries while he served in the US Air Force. The family then settled in Merrill, WI. Over the next 20+ years she worked for Drew’s Piggly Wiggly where she made many wonderful friends. Her and Russ were active in many veterans organizations and were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. After Russ passed in 2014, she spent the next 10 years living in the greater Milwaukee area to be closer to her family.
Donna enjoyed baking, especially making Christmas cookies with all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping around Wisconsin, gardening and traveling to visit her family.
Her family remembers her as a sweet, kind soul that was always loving and ready for a shopping trip. Donna will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Donna leaves behind her children: Dr. Kevin (Terry) Scheu of Bayside, WI, Julie (Carl) Schilz of South Milwaukee, WI, Darren (Angie) Scheu of Westerville, OH, and Jason (Jill) Scheu of Menomonee Falls, WI, 9 grandchildren: Ben (Jamila), Ryan (Morgan), Dylan, William (Nieva), Evy, Sophia, Abigail, Emily and Rachel and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Russell Scheu, sister: Pat, brother: Larry, and niece Stacey.
The funeral service for Donna will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill, WI. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00-11:00 am with the service to follow. Burial will follow at Merrill Memorial Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Elizabeth Residence, Dr. Karen Blindauer and Dr. Joseph Goveas for their care, compassion and support.
