Donna Lucille Selander

D. Lucille Selander, age 93, of Savage, formerly of Maple Lake, died Saturday, January 3, 2026, at The Meadows Senior Living in Savage.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2025, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Fr. Kevin Magner will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery.

Donna Lucille Desrocher was born at home on October 22, 1932, in Verndale, Minnesota, to William and Alice (Bourgeois) Desrocher. After graduating from Verndale High School, Lucille pursued further education in healthcare by obtaining an Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Franklin Hospital. This path led her to a fulfilling career, where she touched countless lives through her compassionate care at Sleepy Eye Hospital, Eitel Hospital, Mt. Sinai Hospital, and ultimately, the Philips Eye Institute.

Lucille was united in marriage to Howard G. Selander at St. Frederick's Catholic Church in Verndale on April 7, 1951, sharing 72 years together filled with love and friendship. Shortly after their union, Howard went to war in Korea while Lucille lived and worked in Sleepy Eye; they then lived for a short time in Indiana upon his return stateside, until his discharge from the Army. They made their home in Minneapolis for over 40 years, before retiring to the community of Maple Lake. After Howard's death, Lucille moved to Savage.

Lucille was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, as well as the Council of Catholic Women. Her community involvement extended to serving as a former member of the Bloomington and Maple Lake VFW Auxiliaries and volunteering at Camp Friendship and Camp Courage. She also enjoyed quilt group and gathering with the Red Hats.

In her spare time, Lucille found joy in reading, playing cards, and indulging in her favorite pastime-bingo. An excellent cook, she loved nothing more than entertaining friends and family, often filling her home with delicious meals and laughter. Her social spirit frequently found her enjoying a meal out with friends and family.

Lucille had a strong faith that she instilled in her family. She will be remembered for her nurturing heart, warmth, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Lucille is survived by her children, Diane of Big Lake, Barbara (Curt) Peterson of Ft. Myers, FL, Michael of Minnetonka, Craig (Jewel) of Brooklyn Park, James (Theresa) of Minneapolis, Robert of Big Lake, and Thomas (Ruby) of Colorado Springs, CO; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; grandson, Brock; sister, Lorraine Everett; and brothers, Wilbur, Marvin, Bill and Bob Desrocher.

Lucille's sons will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
