Donna Stanley Taylor, 72, passed peacefully surrounded by her husband and her children on Christmas Eve.
She graduated from University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1975. During her college years, she was appointed to leadership positions in her sorority Tri- Delta, and served as President of Panhellenic Council.
After graduation, she became an educator at an underserved elementary school in Houston. She stepped back from classroom teaching in 1983 to begin a family with her husband Jack, who she married in 1975.
In addition to being a much loved and inspiring mother of two, she was active in St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston as a member of Daughters of the King Society, Altar Guild, Saintly Stitchers and was a weekly Bible teacher for 30 years. Prior to her involvement at St. Martin's, she was an Elder at Grace Presbyterian Church, Houston, where she served on the school board and was active in Presbyterian Women.
Donna was a talented needlepoint stitcher and designer. She continued her love of needlepoint for many years which she used for the church's altar cushions and other keepsake treasures - her Christmas tree ornaments were legendary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Herman D. and Donnice D. Stanley.
Donna is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jasper (Jack) George Taylor III of Shrewsbury, MA, her son, Jasper (Tate) George Taylor IV (Michelle) of Quincy, MA and her daughter, Anna Catherine Taylor Farrow (Luke) of Shrewsbury, MA, her grandson, George Hanover Farrow, her granddaughter Hope Artemisia Farrow, and her sister, Nancy Stanley Murray (Frank) of New York City.
A celebration of her life and inurnment will be held in spring of 2026 on her beloved Nantucket where she and her family spent 30 summers.
