Donna J. Welch

Donna J. Welch, 73, of Elk Point, SD, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center from Alzheimer's.
The Celebration of Life will be from 10 a.m., to 12 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 with visitation at Kober Funeral Home in Elk Point. Pastor Jesse Hailey will say a short prayer.
Donna was born on July 31, 1952 in Albuquerque, NM to Donald and Faye Akridge. She married the love of her life, Edward Welch on August 21, 1968. To this union, three children were born. Shondra, Jason and Ray.
Donna was a stay at home mom for a while. She found her calling when she went to work at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA, in the purchasing department. She worked there for many years until she took a job as Purchasing Director at Sanford Vermillion Hospital. She was there until she retired.
Throughout the years, Ed and Donna were able to take many vacations to any destinations that interested them. In addition to the traveling, Donna enjoyed reading, watching birds out her living room window and sitting on her porch on nice days, enjoying the weather and a good book.
Donna is survived by her children Shondra (David) Glawe, Jason(Tena) Welch and Ray Welch. Grandchildren, Hayley (Kamdon Sandhurst) Glawe, Matthew Glawe, Keegan (Bailey) Welch, Hunter (Haille Bares) Welch, Taylor (Christina) Welch, Christian (Kenleigh) Welch, Sadie Welch. Great-Grandchildren, Chevy, Keely, Hazel, Mabel, Asher and Finley; Sister, Mary (Jim) Sursavage, Brother, Jim(Almita) Akridge and Brother-in law, Mark (Judy) Welch; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward; Mom Faye, mother and father-in-law, Matthew and Mary, sisters-in- law, Barbara and Penny, and nephew, Johnny and aunts and uncles who were all there to be there to welcome her.
