Donald Loyd Cochran Sr., known affectionately as Donny to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 at 9:47 PM, at the age of 69 in Chattanooga, TN. Born on May 24, 1955, in Atlanta, GA, Don was a man known for his loving heart, kind nature, and wonderful sense of humor.
Donny proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried into his civilian life. Upon his return to civilian life, he focused his time and energy on being a loving father, husband, brother, and grandfather.
In his leisure, Donny was a big baseball and Braves fan. Over the years he took his family to many Braves games where they created many lasting memories while cheering on the team. Often Donny and his son would play catch in the backyard and watch Braves games together on TV sharing the highs and lows of each season. Donny also enjoyed watching many action and war movies. Some of his favorite movies were Top Gun, Back to the Future, and would never turn down a Christmas movie.
Donny was a family man through and through. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Barbara, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Together, they raised a family that includes their loving daughter, Jennifer, and their caring son, Donny. His brother, Larry, will fondly remember Donny's steadfast support and brotherly love.
Donny's legacy continues with his adored grandchildren, Ashley and Olin, who brought him immeasurable joy and laughter. He was a grandfather who could always be counted on for a warm hug, a funny joke, or a word of encouragement. His grandchildren will carry forward his spirit of love and generosity.
Donny's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, humor, and love. These qualities were not only evident in his interactions with his family and friends but were also palpable to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His jovial nature and ability to light up a room with his smile will be dearly missed by all.
As we mourn the loss of Donald Loyd Cochran Sr., we also celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. His influence will continue to be felt by those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Donny's life was a beautiful journey that touched many, and he will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 4th, 2025 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. James Eggert officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
