Dora Elizabeth Bianchini, lovingly known as Dori, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on November 21, 2025. Born on July 20, 1939 to Henry and Wilma Sherer in Dover Delaware. Dori grew up in Delaware and attended the University of Delaware as a Fighting Blue Hen earning a Master Degree in Education. After graduating she joined the Department of Defense teaching overseas in Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines. While there she met her beloved husband and best friend Glenn. Dori & Glenn shared 56 years of marriage. They settled in Oxford Michigan.
She returned to the United States and taught elementary education for several years until she had the honor of becoming a principal at Attica Elementary in Lapeer County. Dori loved her Attica kids; they brought her many years of joy until she retired. She was always their advocate and believed in each of them and her staff. In addition to teaching, she and her husband Glenn built a successful real estate company where they worked side by side after she retired from Attica Elementary.
Dori led a full and dynamic life. Her wanderlust took her and Glenn all across the Globe. Her love of photography helped them document all their adventures. She loved the theatre and reading, always making sure to share her passion with those she loved. Her love of the arts and travel were only eclipsed by the love of her family & her doggies.
Dori will be remembered as a woman of kindness, generosity, and love.
She is survived by her husband Glenn of Oxford, daughter Toni (Tolpa) and husband Steve Taylor of Imlay City. Her grandchildren Christian and Catherine Tolpa, Zachary Tolpa and Abigail Joyce, Benjamin Bianchini & Kaliegh Bianchini. Great grandchildren Isabelle and Matthew Tolpa.
Dori was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Sherer, and son Glenn (J.R) Bianchini.
Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 11 AM. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, December 1st from 3-8 PM and Tuesday from 10-11 AM.
