Dora Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Phoenix on Apr. 13, 2025.
Dora joined her mother and father in heaven on April 5 2025. She was born in Phoenix AZ to Ruth and Sammy on September 30 1963 and was her feisty, loving self from the start. She was raised in Phoenix with her siblings Sam, Donna and Diane. Dora was the oldest and always stuck up for her siblings, willing to fight boys or girls if she needed. She also loved singing in choir. She graduated from Alhambra high school and soon after graduation she married the love of her life Kenny. They knew each other as kids when their parents would go square dancing, it was a meant to be love that expanded decades. Dora welcomed her first daughter Audra and 3 years later welcomed her next daughter Aften. She was a stay at home mom but when she was ready to get back to work she got a job at Sams Town in Vegas and loved it. She moved back to Phoenix where she then shifted careers and became a correctional officer for Arizona Dept of Corrections and retired as a Sgt with them. Dora was blessed with 3 amazing grandchildren, Serenity, Christopher and Nathaniel. She had a bond with all her grandkids but did have a special bond with her granddaughter Serenity. Dora loved camping, going to Prescott, she loved yard sales and thrift stores and could always find a bargain. She could fix anything and would give you the shirt off her back. She was an amazing, loving, funny, strong, sarcastic person who made her daughters, granddaughter and grandsons who they are. She loved her Kenny so much and knew how lucky they were to have each other. Dora will forever be loved and missed but will never be forgotten. She is kept alive by her family who loved her more than she could ever know, let's remember all the funny happy crazy memories we have. We love you momma, it's not goodbye, it's just see you later. I found out today that your mom passed, and please accept my condolences. She will always have a special place in my heart.

We Orlosky kids always called your mom Auntie Dora, so much that I thought she was my real aunt - for years! I don´t think anyone knows this, but there was one night, when I was about 12 years old, I was having a bad asthma attack and your mom made black coffee for me and took me outside to the front of her house, siting on the sidewalk with me until the asthma attack subsided. It was really late at night, but she stayed by my side because my mom wasn´t there. I´ll never forget that.

She was really loving, perhaps even more so in her later years, as she would sometimes share kind words and sweet memories from times with my mom, Lori. She always was a firecracker of energy, and I still remember those wild flea market trips. I loved how she wrote or shared posts about God later in life, and it seemed to me that she grew in her faith. I don´t think it´s a coincidence that I learned about her death just moments after watching a Christian show about what heaven might be like.

May God have mercy on her, and bring her to everlasting life. She is still very much my Auntie Dora.

Love,
Stevie

P.S. Your mom is buried in the same cemetery as her good friend Lori and my brother Niel.
