Dora June Burt

Dora June Burt, 90, a resident of Lapeer, passed away and went to her heavenly home on December 21, 2024. She was born on June 28, 1934, in Ogemaw County, MI. Dora was a graduate of Hale High School, class of 1952. She was a homemaker, babysitter, and caregiver. Dora enjoyed crochet, knitting, and country gospel music. As a family, they participated in many activities at the Oxford Free Methodist Church, where she was a longtime member. She was also an active and current member at the Lapeer Free Methodist Church.
Dora is survived by her beloved children, John (Julie) Burt, James (Sharon) Burt, Mary Lee (Dan) Thompson, and Christine (Dave) Kinkle; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Walter Burt on July 24, 2018 and her parents Marlin and Celia Maxwell.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lapeer Free Methodist Church. Pastor Bruce Lawton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Dora will be laid to rest at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Oxford, MI at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lapeer Free Methodist Church.
