Dora “Dot� Evans Hawkins, 79, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011. She was born February 5, 1931 in Nash County, North Carolina. Dot lived in Burlington for 60 years. She has been at the Burlington Manor for 9 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Mann Evans and Neva Stancil Evans; brothers, Walter Climent “Monk� Evans, George Linwood Evans, Dewey Clifton “Click� Evans, and one sister, Lois “Sister� Evans Conaway. Dot enjoyed going to the beach, dancing, fishing, camping, cooking, music, gardening, bowling, bridge, radio and TV. She worked for ATT&T Technologies as a Professional Administrative Employee, (Material Planning Specialist-PAE 3) (Expeditor) 1986 with 34 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Archie Ralph Hawkins of Burlington; step children, Larry Hawkins of Burlington, Douglas “Doug� Hawkins and wife Robin of Charlotte, NC; step grandchildren, Casey Hawkins Byrtus, Kelly Hawkins, Heather Hawkins, Ryan Hawkins; step great grandchild, Nolan Byrtus; and many nieces and nephews, she has a very special place in their hearts. Special thanks to, Dr. Ann Phelps, her Primary Care Doctor at Duke University Medical Center. Also, the Burlington Manor Staff and Liberty Hospice Staff of Burlington, NC for their care during her long term illness with Alzheimer’s. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Friday, February 4, 2011 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations on English Road. Graveside services will be held 3 pm Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. Billy Webb officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Liberty Hospice Agency, 2505 South Mebane Street, Suite C, Burlington, NC 27215. Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funerals & Cremations, 661 English Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
