Goshen, MA - Dora Emily Emerson died peacefully at Cooley Dickinson Hospital November 02,2024.

She was born November 22, 1933 on the family farm in Conway to mother Genie and father Henry Kaiser. She is predeceased by her two brothers Chester and Ward. She attended local schools and graduated from South Deerfield High School before moving to Goshen and buying the house where she resided independently for the past 70 years. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper and retired from Bisbee Brothers in Chesterfield. She continued to be involved in the Goshen community; working as the town librarian and tax collector for many years. She helped with elections and was an active member of the Council on Aging.

She loved to garden and her yard was beautiful and visited by the many birds that she kept well fed. She was a lover of all animals and always had at least one cat. She also was an accomplished equestrian and could be seen riding her horse Blazer everywhere around the local towns until his death at a very old age. She even trailered him to Montreal and rode him in the Montreal Expo in 1967. Her other love was square dancing and she was quite an accomplished dancer. She was well known and well loved by many who resided and grew up in Goshen.

She had no children of her own but children loved her as they got to know her in her many roles and activities within the town. Many of us have been friends with her our entire lives and never knew life without Dora. She was fiercely independent and strongly stubborn living her life on her terms. She will be missed by many especially Nina, Maureen, Laurie, Susan and many of the town elders too numerous to list.

She donated her body to UMass Medical School so that she could contribute to the education of medical students. There will be a memorial service to be announced in the future and contributions in her memory can be made to the Highland Ambulance Service, the Goshen Fire Department, and Dakin Animal Shelter.
