Gary Emerson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Feb. 12, 2026.
Gary Emerson was a devoted family man, a hardworking professional, and a friend to many. Born on February 16, 1952, to Guy and Winifred Emerson, he passed away on January 23, 2026. His warmth, humor, and passion for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Gary was known for his outgoing personality and his love of a good joke. He had a natural ability to connect with people and bring laughter into any room. Being with his family was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

A man of many interests, Gary had a lifelong passion for cars, airplanes, and travel. Buying cars was something that brought him genuine happiness. He was a loyal supporter of the OU football team and enjoyed relaxing with his favorite television shows, NCIS and SVU. His favorite movies, Top Gun and Tombstone, reflected his appreciation for adventure, loyalty, and strength of character. Gary also had a deep love for music, especially the songs of Neil Diamond. When it came to dining out, Texas Roadhouse was his favorite place to enjoy a good meal.

Gary attended Crooked Oak High School, graduating in 1970, and later continued his education at Rose State College. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and went on to work at Tinker Air Force Base. Throughout his service and career, Gary was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He influenced many through his commitment to his work and his wonderful personality.

Gary is survived by his son, Gary Sean Emerson; his nephew, Anthony Steven Emerson; his grandson, Hunter Lane Emerson; his granddaughter, Trista Emerson; and his great-nephew, Ethan Emerson and Cody Emerson. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, William Joseph Emerson.

Gary will be remembered for his hard work, his humor, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the values he passed on. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
