Dora G. Meza

Dora G. Meza, 86, of Garland, Texas passed away September 18, 2024. She was born in Allende in the state of Coahuila, Mexico in 1938 to Santiago and Maria de Jesus Garza. Dora and her family moved to the United States to pursue the American dream; they were migratory agricultural laborers. As an independent young woman, Dora moved to Garland, Texas in the late 50s. She met the love of her life, Joe Meza, in 1961 at the Aragon Ballroom. Dora and Joe shared a love for music and dancing. Dora was known for her love of crocheting; she gave these handcrafted treasures to her family and friends. Her big smile brought warmth and joy to those around her.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband Joe Meza. Dora is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Lina and Manuel Benavides of Carrollton, Texas and Rosemary and Edward DesPlas of Farmington, New Mexico, her sister Enriqueta Hernandez of Del Rio, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
