Dora "Janie" Trevino Salas, 92, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Reflections Memory Care. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, a city she greatly loved and missed, on March 11, 1931, the daughter of Moses Trevino and Teodora Mota.
Janie was a previous member of the St. Philip Roman Catholic Church Rosary and current parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek. She married Tomas Salas on July 1, 1956 and the two spent the remaining years together until his passing in April of 2021. Janie was a beautiful seamstress and master garage saler. She loved being active in her grandchildren's school activities, sporting events and simply spending time with them. Janie enjoyed maintaining her yard, Cumbia dancing, golfing and bowling, drinking her coffee, attending church and keeping up with her family. There was never a time they had to guess what was on her mind because she had no problem expressing what she felt or what she was thinking. Janie will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Janie is survived by her children, Tomas (Traci) Salas, Jose (Elvia) Salas, Guadalupe (Frank) Arnett; grandchildren, Mario (Jennie), Anthony (Jenny), Matthew (Kathleen), Alexa, Savanna (Tyler), Brittany (Ben), Gabbie, Nathan (Katherine), Mandi (James) and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tomas Salas; siblings, Abel and Abner Trevino, Nino and Gloria; and special cousin, Amelia Gomez.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shanita, Cuyle and the entire care staff at Reflections Memory Care and Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service for the dedication they provided to Janie and the family during this difficult time.
A small family graveside will be held at the Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date where Janie will be laid to rest with Tomas.
