Riverton,Utah - Dorald Paul Smith Jr. ("Smitty"), 83, of Riverton, Utah (recently of St. George), passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2026.

Paul was born November 26, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dorald Paul Smith and Eunice Coolbear Smith. He was a devoted husband to Gloria Jean Larson Smith married March 26, 1969, later sealed in the St George Temple. Paul took great pride in his family. He is survived by his children, Lori Smith and Brandon Smith (Jaki); his grandchild, Jordan Smith (Nicole); and his three great-grandchildren, Capri, Indee, and Brooks. He is also survived by his siblings Norma Wood (Larry Huntington - Roger Wood, deceased) Steve Smith (Shirley), and Wade Smith (Lynne), as well as his stepdaughter Andrea Henry (George) and their families. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janice Hustead (Gary).

Paul served in the Army Reserve and built a life rooted in hard work and ingenuity. He spent years in auto sales and in van conversions. He later found a special purpose in mobility solutions, helping others gain freedom and independence.

Known by many as "Smitty," Paul had a deep love for sports-whether watching or talking about anything from football to track and field. He also enjoyed music, restoring trucks, and especially bringing old things back to life-most notably his beloved '54 Chevy truck, a project he poured countless hours into with pride. He loved being out on the water, and some of the family's most cherished memories were made boating at Lake Powell with friends and family, along with camping adventures and international travel. Paul also had a special place in his heart for his dogs, who brought him constant companionship, comfort, and joy.

Paul was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his faith, love for family, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

Services will be held as follows:

A viewing will be held Friday, January 30, 2026, at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 4760 S State St., Murray, UT 84107, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.

A second viewing will be held the morning of the service at 9:15 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Graveside services will be held at the Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Idaho, following the funeral.
