Doreen Cameron

Doreen Cameron, 65, of Forked River, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023. Predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Platt (2017). Dear sister of Edward Cameron, Jr., Kevin Cameron and his wife Gina. Loving aunt of Dennis, Katie, Jessica and Julie.

Doreen was born in Jersey City, NJ to Mary (née Caliccio) and Edward J. Cameron. She was a legal secretary for 19 years with Akin Gump of New York City. Doreen had many interests including free hand drawing, scrap booking, baking and tracing family history. She was the doting fur-mother to her beloved Yellow Lab, Toby. Doreen loved working in New York City and wouldn't consider working anywhere else even while enduring a 2 hour one-way commute. As much as she loved the city, she also loved her house on the water. She could always be found sitting on her deck, soaking in the sun on beautiful days as the boats passed by her house. Holidays will not be the same without her as she always loaded up bags for her nieces and nephew. While sick, Doreen fought courageously and never complained about her battle. She kept her fight to herself mostly not wanting to burden others. Her smile would light up the room and her upbeat spirit could cheer up anyone. Doreen was a gift of a daughter, a sister and an aunt. She will be missed but always loved….her spirit will live on in everyone she touched.

A celebration of Doreen's life will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, 4-8 PM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. Funeral Mass Friday, May 19, 2023, 11 AM, St. Therese of Lisieux R.C. Church, 120 Monroe Avenue, Cresskill. Cremation is private.
