Doris E. Alexander (nee Eckert), age 83, of West Chester, PA, passed away on February 16, 2026.
Born in 1943, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Erna Eckert. Doris was a school teacher for the West Chester School District for many years. She was fond of hearing the church bells from the Tabernacle at her beach house in Ocean City, NJ. She enjoyed riding her bicycle on the boardwalk and around the island. Doris loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, mostly going to the beach to play in the sand and the ocean with her children and grandchildren.
Doris was the beloved wife of Robert J. Alexander, Jr. for 62 years; loving mother of Jennifer L. Finkey (the late Fred), Wendy S. McColgan (Tim), and Robert J. Alexander (Danielle); caring grandmother of Fred Finkey, Olivia Finkey, Samantha Finkey, Gabriella Finkey, Alexander McColgan, Charlotte McColgan, Annabelle McColgan, Robbie Alexander, and Rachel Alexander; dear sister of Barbara Towle and the late Edna Hartranft.
Relatives and friend are invited to her Visitation 1:00-2:00 PM Thursday, February 26, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, stjude.org, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be appreciated.
