Doris Louise Berger

Doris Louise (Reynolds) Berger, age 91, of Dillsburg, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025. She was fortunate to be able to spend her last few days on her mountain with her loving husband by her side. Doris was born on Friday, November 10, 1933, in Mechanicsburg to the late Mervin Sunday Reynolds and Helen Pauline (Martin) Reynolds. In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her siblings Robert Reynolds, Shirley Fake, and Mildred Scearce.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 41 years, Mark Edward Berger, Sr.; her brother: William Reynolds; her five children: David A. Hopkins, Jr. and wife Terri, of Dillsburg, Doug A. Hopkins of Palmyra, Deborah Leininger of Dillsburg, Jeffrey Hyser and wife Kristin, of Mechanicsburg, Jill Hefflefinger and husband Darryl, of Bluffton, SC; two stepchildren Mark E. Berger, Jr. and wife Mary, of York and Cher Poitevien of Harrisburg; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Doris graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School. She was a devout member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. She loved and got great pleasure from her church family and enjoyed church events with other members and family of the church. Doris found enjoyment in crossword puzzles and reading detective stories and mysteries. She also appreciated reading the Star and Enquirer magazines. Doris loved shopping at Bon-Ton and Boscov’s with her sister Millie. She was highly respected by everyone and cared deeply for all individuals she knew. Doris will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

All are welcome to join Doris’s family at her viewing on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. A funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 117 W. Keller Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with Reverend Marleen Griffith-Stull officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Doris’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at St. Mark Lutheran Church immediately following the burial.
