Doris (nee Nelson) Beutel, a cherished matriarch and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 31, 1939, in Long Branch, New Jersey, to the late Leonard and Selma Nelson, Doris was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life. She spent the majority of her years in Belford, where she nurtured her family and friendships, before retiring to the serene community of Lincroft.
Doris's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Melanie Hrbek, and her son, Jeffrey Britton, who will forever cherish her memory. Doris was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and laughter into her life. Her legacy of love continues through them. She was predeceased by her daughters, Susan Britton and Lisa Bisbee, her brother, Richard Nelson, her grandson, Devin Hrbek, and her beloved husband, Werner "Bert" Beutel, with whom she shared a lifetime of treasured moments.
For over two decades, Doris's warm smile and friendly demeanor were fixtures at Bahr's Restaurant in Highlands, NJ. Her later years at Tuesday Morning in Middletown were not driven by necessity but by her love for the thrill of a good find, always eager to share the joy of a bargain with her friends and family.
Doris's interests were simple yet profound. She found solace in the rhythmic waves of the beach and the company of her friends. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she seized every opportunity to be involved in their lives, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Those who knew Doris would describe her as thoughtful, loving, and friendly-a woman whose presence could light up a room and whose compassion knew no bounds. She approached life with a gentle heart and a generous spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own.
As we bid farewell to Doris, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her impact on the world was as profound as the ocean she adored-endless and awe-inspiring. Doris's story is not one of sorrow but of a life filled with love, laughter, and the grace of everyday moments turned into precious memories.
Doris will be laid to rest with her husband Bert at Fairview Cemetery during a private committal service.
