Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home on Oct. 3, 2025.
Doris Lynne Binger Brannan, born July 10, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, to Herbert A. and Bonolyn (Space) Binger, peacefully entered her eternal home on May 6, 2025, surrounded by love. Her life was a testament of faith, kindness, and a deep devotion to family, friends, and community.
Doris attended Randolph Grade School, Boswell Junior High, and graduated from Topeka High School in 1957. She spent her first year at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, before transferring to Kansas State University in 1958. There she met her beloved husband of almost 63 years, Roger Dean Brannan. At K-State, she earned her degree in Home Economics. Doris was an active member of Chi Omega Sorority, serving as Recording Secretary her senior year.
Following graduation, Doris taught 7th and 8th grade Home Economics at Capper Junior High in Topeka. She and Roger were married on June 9, 1962, at the First Congregational Church in Topeka, Kansas. After her first year of teaching, they moved to
Manhattan, Kansas, where they become members of the First United Methodist Church. Doris worked as the secretary for Mechanical Engineering at KSU and later worked at Woodrow Wilson Grade School.
Her dedication to service extended beyond her professional roles. Doris was the longtime secretary of the Kansas State Chapter of PEO, a role she cherished deeply. Her 64 years of commitment to PEO, including serving as co-chairman of the 1976 Kansas PEO Convention and later as the first Executive Secretary of the Kansas State Chapter, exemplified her unwavering devotion to sisterhood and philanthropy. She retired from this role in 1996.
In addition to her work, Doris enjoyed working at Woody's Ladies Shop in Aggieville until its closing in 2002. Though she and Roger had no children of their own, they considered many of Roger's students as family, and their lives were enriched by the relationships they fostered. In 1996, their lives were further blessed when a young Fort Riley Army doctor, his wife, and their four children moved next door to them, forming a bond that would last forever. The Williams family became a cherished and permanent part of their lives.
Travel was a passion for Doris. She and Roger explored 49 of the 50 states, missing only Hawaii. One of her greatest joys was shopping with her girls, sharing laughter and love, and creating memories that will forever be treasured.
In August 2020, Doris and Roger moved to Meadowlark Hills. She enjoyed the close community of support and friendship. Her faith and unwavering devotion served as her guiding light, giving her peace and the ability to return home to her loving Heavenly Father without fear.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert A. and Bonolyn Binger, and her brother Robert James Binger of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is survived by her beloved husband Roger of
Manhattan, Kansas; daughter Jodi D. Williams (Ben) of Roosevelt, Utah; grandchildren Joshua Williams (Lauren), Melinda Williams Golden (Zack), Katie Williams Novack (Brandon), Rachel Williams Gilley (Rhett), Matthew Williams (Megan); and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many dear friends who cherished her warm spirit and generous heart.
Her life was a shining example of love, service, and faith. Doris Lynne Binger Brannan will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the legacy of kindness and grace she leaves behind.
