Mr. Carl Price, Jr. Obituary Carl Richard Price Jr., educator, motivator, teacher, entrepreneur, brother, father, uncle, husband, was born in Topeka, Kansas on July 9, 1942, to the late Carl R. Price Sr. and Roberta Price. He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandfather, Dr. Charles Price, paternal grandmother, Goldie Price, maternal grandfather, Robert Hall, maternal grandmother, Floy Claggett and two brothers, Robert Price and Michael Price.
Carl spent his childhood in Topeka, Kansas. He was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Lincoln University and the participated in Masters Program of Kansas University.
Pastor Charles J. Briscoe married Carl and Daisy, August 5, 1985, and that union was blessed with three children.
Carl had a rich philanthropy his time was spent supporting many social groups (Pioneers, Midtown Kiwanis Club and Geology of KC, Mary L. Kelly Community Center, community centers of apartment complexes, churches, partnered with the Kansas City Public library who sponsored space for them to tutor Ged, tutoring at various branches including the Lucille Bluford Branch.
Carl Price was a community educator and entrepreneur who after years of working with the Kansas City Missouri School District GED Program started the Financial Aid Consulting Tutoring Service (F.A.C.T.S). His entrepreneurial pursuits included being the President of the Golden Nugget Fashion Modeling Troupe, Nikken distributor, Video tapes, Dick Gregory Bahamian diet distributor, CEO of Worlds of Coupons, Producer of the Annual Showcase of the Stars and Keeping it Real talent showcases at Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, he was also the President Tutoring Service. Publisher of Student School News digital magazine, and FACTS Newsletter. he was instrumental in getting Kansas City to host the Miss Black America pageant.
Carl was the Education Director for UAO TV (Urban American Outdoors), Served as Vice President of the Black Chamber of Commerce under Ira Folkes, President, served for many years as President of the Midtown Kiwanis Club.
Carl Price also played chess at a Masters level. He could be found on first Fridays on 18th and Vine with his chess boards, he started a Chess in the Park on Sunday afternoons in Spring Valley Park. He also received many awards and commendations for his community service that spanned and covered the greater Kansas City Area. He was known for promoting students studying for increased ACT and SAT scores to qualify for academic scholarships, he was the original promoter of organizations sponsoring Black College Tours to inspire students to believe they could attend college and prepare for that additional study and proactive planning. For many years he received acknowledgement for being the van driver at the Paseo Baptist Church. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion to his family and friends. Carl Richard Price Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2025, at his home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Daisy V. Price; two sons, Carl R. Price III; and Gordon Price; two daughters, Kanina Price; and Christina LeMay; one granddaughter, Amber Johnson; one sister, Candice Price Hubbard; brother in law, Wayne D. Hubbard; mother-in-law, Daisy Hudnall; two sisters- in- law, Sherri Scott; and Theresa Hudnall; six nieces, Monica Peyton; Robin Peyton; Chanelle Brow; Candice Freeman (Shaine); Chayanne Hubbard; and Priest Owens; two great nieces, Jace Freeman; and Cayce Freeman; a host of cousins; other relatives; and many friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation from 9am-11am at the chapel.
