Melody Sue (Moore) Price, 77, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Wilbur Moore and Loretta (Strait) Moore.
Melody married her beloved husband, James Price, on August 27, 1966, in Indianapolis, and together they built a life centered on family, service, and community.
A proud graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and Indiana Wesleyan University, Melody dedicated 35 years to Chase Bank, retiring as Vice President and Zionsville Branch Manager. She later served the people of Boone County as elected Auditor, a role that reflected her commitment to public service and fiscal responsibility.
Melody held her civic duty in the highest regard. Her life in the community exemplified the Rotarian motto: "Service above self." She was an active member of Zionsville United Methodist Church and dedicated 37 years to the Zionsville Rotary Club, her greatest passion. She made history as the club's first female member and served with distinction as President, among other leadership roles throughout her tenure. Known as one of the club's most active organizers, Melody could be found coordinating events and fostering fellowship—whether leading the charge on the club's signature 10-man bike in the annual Fall Festival parade or bringing members together for meaningful service projects. Her community leadership also extended to the Greater Zionsville Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County, the Board of Trustees for St. Vincent Women's Hospital (Women's Hospital of Indianapolis), and the Leasing Corporation Board for Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library.
In her leisure time, Melody found joy in boating on the lake, golfing, and tending to her garden. She treasured time spent with family and friends, and her warmth and generosity touched countless lives.
Melody is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, James Price; her children, Jeffrey Price (wife Sherra D. Langley Price), Amy Bowerbank (husband Brian Bowerbank), and Jason Price (wife Melissa Price); her grandchildren, Evan Price, Morgan Gray, and Coki Price; and her sisters, Mary Williams and Diana Messmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Loretta Moore, and her brothers, Michael Moore and James Moore.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Both services will take place at the Chapel of Hoosier Village, 9875 Cherryleaf Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46268, and are open to the public. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
